Battle It Out (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Battle It Out mobile application and related services. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: email address, display name, profile photo, profession, and authentication identifiers (including Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple when you choose those options).
- User content: videos, comments, messages, votes, challenges, blocks, and reports you submit.
- Device and usage data: app interactions, in-app search queries used to return results, crash/diagnostic information if you later enable crash reporting, push notification tokens, and technical details (which may include IP address processed by our infrastructure providers).
- Optional media access: photo library access only when you choose a photo or video to upload. This version does not use the camera or microphone.
2. How We Use Information
- Create and manage your account
- Power battles, feeds, messaging, notifications, and voting
- Moderate content, investigate reports, and protect community safety
- Improve reliability, security, and product features
- Communicate important service updates
3. Sharing
We use service providers to operate the app, including Firebase (authentication, database, notifications), Cloudinary (media storage/delivery), and email delivery providers for verification codes. These providers process data on our behalf. We do not sell your personal information.
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users and the platform.
4. User-Generated Content
Content you post (such as videos and comments) may be visible to other users according to your privacy settings and the nature of the feature. Do not upload content you do not want shared on the platform.
5. Data Retention & Account Deletion
You can delete your account in Settings → Delete Account. When you delete your account, we remove your authentication account and associated personal profile data we control, along with user-owned content we can delete from the client (such as your videos, comments, and saved items). Some operational records (for example historical battle or vote references) may remain in anonymized or limited form where deletion is restricted for integrity or security reasons.
6. Children’s Privacy
Battle It Out is a general-audience app for users 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. You must confirm you are at least 13 before creating an account. If we gain actual knowledge that an account belongs to a child under 13, we will delete that account and associated personal information as required by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 created an account, email us. Do not upload a child’s personal information to prove the claim; tell us the username or email used on the account.
7. Advertising
This version of the app does not show third-party ads and does not use the advertising identifier for tracking.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards provided by our infrastructure partners. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

- Update profile and privacy settings in the app

- Block or report other users

11. Disputes about privacy
If we cannot resolve a privacy concern through support, the dispute process in the Terms of Service (informal resolution, then arbitration or small-claims court where that section applies) governs. This Privacy Policy does not itself create a separate lawsuit process.
